Build for a living thing, not just for looks.

Students begin by investigating the needs of a real or featured animal. Teams then design, model and explain a habitat solution within age-appropriate constraints.

Students will

  • Identify survival needs and environmental conditions.
  • Work within design criteria and constraints.
  • Build or model a habitat solution.
  • Explain, test and improve design decisions.
Flexible participation

Hands-on does not mean hands-on is required.

Activities can be adapted for varied ages, comfort levels and sensory needs. Live-animal interaction is always choice-based, and observation is a complete form of participation.
